Burke Channel – Cape Caution – Queen Charlotte Strait

Exposure to the ocean by boat for any length of time puts you in tune with the tide, the sun, the currents, the wind and the marine life.  This time out we saw a return of the humpback whales with 8 sighting close up or their spouts in the distance.  Dozens of dolphins and a few sea lions and hundreds of seals.  Then there’s the birds, there’s nothing like waking up to the first chirping of the eagles at daybreak, or the enthusiastic  calls of the oyster catchers, or the echo of the loons in a secluded bay.  We attracted quite a few hummingbirds with the feeder we hung off the stern this year, they are eager and frenzied feeders.  Life on the water is rich with the beauty of mother nature all around us.
